When Brain Age hit the shelves in May 2005, the Japanese market received it well considering we're talking about an educational title. In the next 34 weeks the title held strong, with top positions in the sales charts, which was a peculiar reaction for a casual game, to say the least. In time, Brain Age's charismatic godfather, Dr. Kawashima became somewhat of a Nintendo DS mascot. Imagine our surprise when we've heard about his crossover to the PSP enemy lines with an effort resulting in Mind Quiz. The PSP game seems to be a prettier version of Brain Age, but with different mental exercises.

Ubisoft is to publish Sega's newly developed Mind Quiz, scheduled for a European release this November. The title is sure to walk in the wake of Brain Age's success, with the good doctor as editorial supervisor. After all, Mind Quiz already moved 200000 units in Japan, where Dr. Kawashima books sold over 2 million copies. The PSP game features brain rejuvenating exercises in a school like environment. We'll see PSP's four buttons put to good use, answering questions based on his books.

Going back two years, developer Satoru Iwata met with Dr. Kawashima to discuss the possibilities of turning his Train Your Brain book into a video game. Starting day one the concept targeted both gamers and non-gamers alike, in order to create an original franchise. In terms of intellectual rights, Brain Age is directly linked to by Dr. Kawashima and not Nintendo. Brain Age for DS proved to be a smashing hit, so it only makes sense to take the idea to as many platforms as possible.
