Every day comes with its good news and its bad news and now it's time for the bad news. Quite frankly, if there's anything that could get your moral back up after this one, it would only be news that retailers broke the street date and started selling Halo 3 early - which hasn't happened so get back in your chair and keep on reading. The bad news is that Sony's now slimmer and lighter PSP is not getting God of War: Chains of Olimpus... this year. I had you there for a second, didn't I?!

Yup, according to Gamespot.com, March 4th, 2008 is the game's launch date for the US. Demo UMDs are on their way (as promised) later this year,
but only for North American gamers who were clever enough to sign up online to the game's official website. Of course, as we've gotten used to being left behind, there's currently no word on a European launch date for the game, but handhelds generally get the game on the same day everywhere on the globe (or at least the same week).

For those who haven't been reading the news lately, in God of War: Chains of Olympus, Kratos will journey to lands that no mortal has ever walked upon. With the world plunged in eternal darkness and the Gods rendered powerless, Kratos will face the most feared creatures of Greek Mythology, and ultimately be forced to choose between his own personal redemption and saving the ancient world from certain destruction, says the game's storyline.

We've made available some of the game's basic features below, as written within the game's E3 fact sheet coming straight from Sony. Have a look:

■ Epic Gameplay on the PSP system: Keeping true to the God of War franchise, experience dramatic camera angles and epic set pieces, offering a never before seen experience on the PSP system.

■ Mythological Odyssey: This story is set in a time before the events of God of War, where players will experience Kratos' journey during the 10 years of servitude to the Gods of Olympus.

■ All New Combat Moves: Players can utilize new brutal combat moves along with their favorite combo attacks from the God of War franchise.

■ Exploration: From the Gates of Hades to the Depths of Tartarus, the journey will take players through the dark and brutal world of Greek Mythology. Face-off against all new creatures from Greek Mythology and engage in epic boss battles.

■ Puzzle Solving: As players explore the ancient world, prepare to navigate through a labyrinth of challenging puzzles inter-woven into the story.

■ Critically-Acclaimed Franchise: Brought to you by two award-winning development teams, Sony Computer Entertainment America, Santa Monica Studios and Ready At Dawn Studios.

So, while disappointed North Americans now know that God of War: Chains of Olympus launches March 4th, next year for the PSP, Europeans still have to wait for confirmation from Sony that they're getting it at least the same week as March 4th. Hey, maybe we're getting it even earlier than the boys from the States... Naaah!
