Finally, a good "brutal" game for the PSP. Games Workshop's Warhammer 40,000 has been confirmed for the PSP, being entitled "Warhammer 40,000: Squad Command." It is said to feature fast, action-packed combat combining a turn-based strategy gameplay with an engaging and authentic single-player storyline. Keep your hands off the knife, there's multiplayer too... Oh wait, I've already said it in the title.

So, throughout this war-ravaged universe that Warhammer 40,000: Squad Command is set in, gamers will play as the elite Space Marines of the Ultramarines chapter, struggling to defeat the encroaching evil of the Chaos Space Marines. The demon-influenced Chaos Space Marines will drag gamers through 13 cinematically-tied missions.

There will also be a great multiplayer mode featuring 9 missions (all different), in which gamers will team up and go head-to-head with other gamers worldwide as either the Imperium of Man or Chaos Space Marines. So basically, Warhammer 40,000: Squad Command will utilize the PSP's functionality to the max. Who would have thought that the Warhammer universe would come to a handheld?

Main features of Warhammer 40,000: Squad Command for the PlayStation Portable from Sony, taken straight from the official post: ■ Compelling single player game consisting of 13 unique missions ■ 9 unique multiplayer maps for Local or Global games, with small, medium and large map variants to cater for games from 2 to 8 players ■ Fully destructible, real time 3D battlefields mean that no two games will be the same ■ Pick from two Space Marine chapters or two Chaos Space Marine Legions to play as in Multiplayer games, in battles between Imperium vs. Imperium, Forces of Chaos vs. Forces of Chaos, or Imperium vs. Forces of Chaos ■ Over 20 ranged and close combat weapons taken directly from the Warhammer 40,000 universe, including the Bolter, Plasma Gun, Chainsword and Power Fist

So, impressed yet? Look, if you're a PC gamer I get that you're used to the best stuff, but it's the PSP we're talking about here. Anyway, whether you like it or not, it'll be out in autumn, published by THQ. Keep close, they might reveal more on the multiplayer features.
