Game trophies on the PlayStation 4 will retain their current classification seen on the PS3 or PS Vita, i.e. Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum, but they'll also be ranked by rarity, which changes over time as more and more players experience the games.

The PlayStation 4 is set to make its debut this week in North America and Sony is currently revealing all sorts of smaller details about the next-gen console and its various systems, mechanics, or features.

According to Kotaku, the trophy system for the PS4 will receive a slight improvement designed to further promote players to complete various challenges.

Besides ranking the trophies based on the degree of complexity required (Bronze for easy challenges, Silver and Gold for tougher ones, and Platinum for beating all of the tasks in the game), the PS4 also ranks trophies by rarity.

This means that, if a player unlocks a certain trophy that hasn't been earned by that many other players, that challenge will be more prominently displayed.

Besides this, the trophy system remains intact.
