The Instant Game Collection will no longer receive indie titles

PlayStation Plus subscribers will be treated to some high-quality triple-A PS4 titles for free later this year, as Sony is apparently keen on no longer giving them games made by independent developers.

The PlayStation Plus program has brought a huge amount of great games to PS3 and PS Vita owners since its drastic revamp a few years ago, and it's been extended to the PS4 since the console's debut last year.

But, while PS3 owners got the likes of BioShock Infinite or Tomb Raider, PS4 users were treated to independent downloadable titles like Resogun, Don't Starve, Outlast, or the upcoming Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition.

According to industry insider Thuway on Twitter, Sony is aware of the lack of high-quality PS4 games and will change the strategy later this year.

As such, PS4 owners with PS Plus subscriptions will get free access to some triple-A titles towards the end of 2014.

Until then, however, they'll have to deal with the current indie lineup and with the promise that Driveclub, the long-awaited PS4 racing game, will also be offered for free albeit with a smaller amount of content like cars or tracks.

As of yet, however, Sony hasn't confirmed anything about the PS Plus strategy for PS4.
