A brand new report has appeared online about the possible release date of the upcoming PS4 firmware update 1.70, as one insider claims that Sony is targeting the end of April for its debut.

After sharing some details last month and many more a few weeks ago, Sony is now getting ready to launch the 1.70 system software update for the PlayStation 4.

The new firmware removes the HDCP encryption on HDMI gameplay signal but also adds major new improvements to the Sharing system, including a rich video editor called ShareFactory.

The company showcased some of these new features earlier this month but declined to offer an actual release date for the new system software.

A slipup from the Japanese website hinted at a release on April 30 and now insider Tidux, who previously shared quite a few details about the new firmware, has also revealed that Sony is targeting internally a late April launch.

Unfortunately, he couldn't offer a concrete date, although it does seem likely that it will happen next week.

A few surprises were also hinted at but not much info is known about these possible features for the PS4 firmware update 1.70. Expect something official from Sony soon enough.
