Sony has confirmed that the European edition of PS4 system software update 1.51 will go live on its servers on November 28, at which point future owners of the console will be able to download it and have it on a USB stick in case the automatic update process fails.

The PS4 came out in North America on November 15 and alongside it Sony released a day-one firmware update for the console, taking its system software to version 1.50.

After quite a few problems and issues, Sony then launched a new firmware, in the form of version 1.51 in both the U.S. and Canada.

Now, ahead of the console's debut on November 29 in certain European countries, Sony's Chris Owen has confirmed on Twitter that firmware 1.51 will be available for download on November 28, “around lunchtime.”

The file will be around 300MB in size and can be applied to the console via a USB stick.
