Sony has confirmed during its pre-Tokyo Games Show 2014 conference that the PS4 firmware 2.00, which was announced back at Gamescom 2014 last month, is also going to include live theme support, in addition to other major features.

The PS4 has been around for almost one year, and ever since its debut last November, quite a few different new features have been added via system software updates to the popular console.

In recent months, however, things have slowed down, as Sony has only opted to deploy smaller firmware updates designed only to fix bugs and improve the console's stability.

Back at Gamescom 2014 last month, Sony confirmed that plenty of major features were going to be included in the upcoming PS4 firmware update 2.00, such as Share Play, meant to allow players to experience a game with friends seamlessly online.

Now, during the early Tokyo Games Show 2014 press conference, Sony has decided to share another major feature coming in PS4 system software update 2.00 – live themes.

Once the new firmware appears, players will be able install live themes that work much in the same way as the ones released for the PS3 throughout its lifetime.

The feature was demonstrated using Sony's Japanese cat-like mascots, as you can see above, via Twitter. An animated gif/webM of the theme in action can be found below, via Reddit.
