Hardware freaks' delight

November is getting closer and closer and so is the PlayStation 3 release date. Like with every other major games console launch, information tends to slip out. This is also the case as the audio, video and hardware formats supported by the PlayStation3 have been revealed.

The hardware supported formats are pretty standard as the PS3 will support Blu-Ray and all its subcategories ROM, -R and -RE. CD format and its subcategories (ROM, -RW, -R, Super Audio) have also been included in the supports of the PS3. Sony could not have left out the DVD format as the PS3 can handle DVD ROM, -R, -RW and +RW.

The image, video and music formats included in the features of the PS3 are similar with the formats supported by the PSP. In the video category, Sony has implemented PS3 support for MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 SP and MPEG-4 AVC/H.265 formats. As regarding audio, the included formats are: AAC, Wav, MP3 and ATRAC. JPEG, PNG, BMP and GIF are the image formats supported by the PS3.

Some of us can't believe that the PlayStation3 will finally be here. After experiencing a lot of hardware problems, Sony finally got their act together and set a valid release date for the console. But some of us, Europeans to be exact, won't get to see the console until March of next year.
