Better late than never

The Lost Planet 2 demo is coming to the PlayStation 3 in less than a week. Sony fanboys will get a chance to experience all the delight the Xbox 360 owners did, and then some. Besides the co-op mission that pits the players against a G-Type Akrid, the boss of all bosses of the Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, they will also “get the exclusive experience of two additional missions in an online co-operative extermination of the Akrid of E.D.N. III,” Brian Keltner, Capcom public relations manager, states.

The action of the game takes place ten years after the development of Lost Planet: EC with the Neo-VEnus Construction fighting a more aggressive and powerful Akrid. The planet snow melted away, giving way to a new, more diverse scenery. The demo will become available on the PlayStation Network next week, while, on September 24, a new trailer will also be available. It will showcase a desert environment, as opposed  to the already shown city and jungle. It will also give players a glimpse of an even bigger Akrid.

If opinions on the first Lost Planet seem a bit scattered to both sides of the chart, Lost planet 2 seems to enjoy an unbiased hype. The promising graphics and the gameplay footage that have been previously released seem to have enticed the audience with considerable effect. The latest promise of an even bigger Akrid can only do good to the eagerly expected game.

The title will have its official release for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC in 2010, even though they seem to be lined up nicely and even the platforms seem to be treated completely differently by developer and publisher Capcom. Not only did the PS3 demo arrive late, but it improved, compared with the Xbox, the PC has yet to see anything of this game. Most intriguing, as Jun Takeuchi presented the demo for the audience for the first time running on a PC, not on an Xbox as first believed.
