Unreal Tournament 3 and BlackSite: Area 51 Get Delayed

Two of the best and most wanted titles on the PS3 are to be delayed, the most important of them being Unreal Tournament 3, accompanied by BlackSite: Area 51. We'll see the UT 3 arriving in 2008 and it's the millionth time we realize that it really DOES take a lot of work to develop games for Sony's next-gen gaming device. Midway gave no reasons for the delay of their title, but I'm guessing that it's that good old PS3 problem again...

Too much calculus and processing power can ruin a developer's life, that probably being the reason for Kojima's decision to move his acclaimed Metal Gear Solid 4 title to the Xbox 360 camp. UT 3's fellow delayed game, BlackSite: Area 51 is scheduled for a late November release, as opposed to the November 5th launch of its Xbox 360 and PC versions. Midway's CEO, David Zucker mentioned he regrets that Unreal Tournament 3 will miss the holiday season, but the company still relies on its marketing strategy, so the title will be a bomb nevertheless.

While delays hit the PS3, the guys over at Square-Enix keep reminding us that Final Fantasy XIII is a PlayStation 3-only title, by mentioning that in their trailers. However, the developers promised a 2009 release of the game, some even mentioning 2010 as a launch date... I guess I'll be growing quite a beard till then, while playing the various PSP hits that Square-Enix has prepared for us. They're not that fond of the PS3, to be honest, since during the Tokyo Game Show, Final Fantasy's producer has announced that it will work with Microsoft in order to develop an Xbox RPG.

I know that UT 3 is due for 2008, but being a fan, I'm hoping to at least get to check out the game's demos at Christmas time, perhaps on the PSN (unless everyone rushes to get them and the server gets laggy).
