Owners of the new PlayStation Vita will be greeted with a new firmware update later this week. Sony is throwing in a few goodies, including video capture, GPS tracking and a Mac-compatible management app.

PlayStation consoles have never seen any official Mac OS X support for content management, but it seems Sony is finally assessing just how many Apple fanboys now own a portable PlayStation.

The details about Sony’s new support app for OS X customers are scarce. The company will reportedly release a Mac OS version of its Content Management Assistant for PlayStation this Wednesday, as part of the PS Vita 1.6 firmware update. The program will be required for transferring data between your PS Vita and Macintosh computer.
