Mike Bithell, the creator of Thomas Was Alone, says that the game’s launch on the PlayStation Plus service from Sony enabled his title to reach a wider and more passionate audience.

He tells Joystiq that, “And that’s exciting, because that’s a whole bunch of cool players who are really into their games – that’s why they have PS Plus – who know who the hell I am now.”

The fact that Thomas Was Alone was appreciated for its mechanics means that it is easier for the developer to count on name recognition when he launches his next game project.

Sony has always been keen to support indies on its services and the company has already confirmed that it will offer even more resources for them to use on the PlayStation 4.

One of the launch titles for the console is the new game from Jonathan Blow, The Witness.
