Sony won't be able to offer a low subscription price

Games industry analyst Michael Pachter believes that PlayStation Now, Sony's upcoming cloud-based streaming service, won't be able to deliver the amount of value seen in other services like Netflix because Sony can't afford to pay publishers that much.

Sony revealed PlayStation Now last month and said that the service would be available as a subscription, but PS4 or PS3 owners can also rent games on a per-title basis.

Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter, who criticized the service a few weeks ago, has once again predicted that it won't be able to attract customers with a low subscription price like Netflix, for example.

According to Bonus Round, he mentioned that Sony couldn't afford to subsidize the subscription and pay publishers from its own pockets because it doesn't have the money Netflix does.

As of yet, however, Sony hasn't confirmed anything about the PS Now subscription or rental costs.
