Recently, Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia started to deliver a new software update to its Nokia N9 devices, so that users could benefit from a better experience than before.

The software arrives on devices as firmware PR 1.2 and packs a wide range of features, including Nokia Drive improvements, folder view in applications, continuous shooting for the camera, support for video calls with Google Talk, and more.

The new update was made available for Nokia N9 users in only a small number of countries in the beginning, but has already reached more people around the world.

In fact, it appears that over 70 percent of all Nokia N9 users out there are currently taking advantage of the new OS flavor. Over the coming weeks, all Nokia N9 owners should receive the new software update.

This will be delivered over the air, which means that users will have to wait for a notification to appear on their devices. If it doesn’t, they will need to wait a bit longer, or they can contact their local operator to learn more on it.

Those who did not have time to access information on the new software update will certainly be interested to know that it has a lot to offer to them.

Users will be able to keep apps better organized than before, while also taking advantage of a zero lag shutter in continuous shooting mode that is now available for Nokia N9’s 8-megapixel photo snapper.

“Once you’ve changed the settings in the camera, just hold your finger down on the capture button for a continual stream of photos – nine, to be precise. You’ll get three frames per second, and will never have to miss those fast moving scenes that just tend to whizz past your eyes,” a recent post on Nokia Conversations explains.

Nokia N9 also provides users with the possibility to easily upload any image to social networking sites. Additionally, the phone will also enable them to tag friends in uploaded photos, courtesy of N9’s face detection capabilities.

Other enhancements included in the new update are related to the phone’s capability to make video calls, which also offers support for switching to the main camera on the back.

Nokia Drive on Nokia N9 was also updated, now offering routing options, as well as a Favourites feature, powered by Nokia Maps, and the possibility to add, sync and delete locations. The phone also includes speed limit alerts, very useful for drivers.

Sharing media from the phone is now easy, regardless of the targeted device. Moreover, the handset will now offer software update notifications for 3rd party apps in Nokia Store, while providing users with the option to create playlists and delete songs in media player. There is also better web browsing history to take advantage of.
