Whenever they make a new device, companies are especially ecstatic if they can get their new products to be the best at something or the first to achieve a certain feat, and PQI has just done something along these lines.

When thinking of NAND Flash storage, there are several devices that spring to mind, two of them more prominent.

Those are solid state drives (SSDs), which have been giving HDDs a headache with their fats data rates and silent operation, and the USB (Universal Serial Bus) flash drive.

In this instance, it appears that PQI (Power Quotient International) has created a storage unit belonging to the latter category.

Dubbed Intelligent Drive U819V, it is said to be the smallest USB 3.0 storage device on the market so far.

Granted, flash drives are all very small, easy to carry products, but some of them are small enough that one can plug them into a laptop's port and forget about them.

Of course, this also makes them easier to lose, although this problem should be easy to resolve by putting it on a keychain.

For those that want numbers, the newcomer measures 31.5 x 14.8 x 7.3 mm and has a weight of 3.6 grams.

Also, as a reminder, the SuperSpeed USB 3.0 standard has a theoretical maximum throughput of roughly 5 Gbps, that being ten times higher than USB 2.0, although it is unclear just how close to this upper limit the U819V can get.

Either way, the connection will allow the 4 GB, 8 GB. 16 GB and even 32 GB capacities to fill up at a convenient pace, with even large, multi-gigabyte files being easy to copy to and from either model.

Finally, the product will definitely win over some prospective buyers thanks to its ivory white, glossy exterior, although midnight black also exists as a color option.
