They are quite compact, but are limited to USB 2.0 speed, sadly

You'd think that, by now, storage device makers wouldn't even bother with USB 2.0 technology anymore, considering how slow it is compared to USB 3.0. Besides, the latter isn't that much more expensive and is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 anyway.

Nevertheless, PNY has released a series of Flash Drives that are, indeed, limited to USB 2.0 performance, with reads happening at 14 MB/s and writing done at 4 MB/s.

The HP v239g USB flash drives weigh 4.4 grams, but pack up to 64 GB capacity in spite of that. It will take ages to fill the biggest one, but if you are only looking for a stick to hold your docs and picture collections, that shouldn't be a problem.

Alas, if it's sharing a video you wish to do, copying it to or from a PC can become quite a chore.

On the bright side, the HP v239g is coated in metal, gold plating in fact, and is both enduring and water proof, to an extent.

In its press release, PNY says it created the HP v239g as a way to celebrate the Indian culture. We suppose the caps do look, vaguely, like elephant heads, but their ears are a bit large, more reminiscent of African elephants than Indian ones.

Unfortunately, PNY did not release the prices of the new flash drive line.
