PNY is almost ready to start shipping a new series of solid state drives, one that uses SandForce controllers and MLC (multi-level cell) NAND Flash memory.

The line is called Optima Pro and is made of two members with capacities of 120 GB and 240 GB, respectively.

The SandForce SF-2582 controller is what makes their NAND Flash memory chips work.

Thus, by communicating over the SATA 6.0 Gbps interface, otherwise known as SATA III, the newcomers can reach transfer speeds of over 500 MB/s, both when reading and when writing.

PNY revealed the newcomers at the IT partners event in France, or so a report published by TechPowerUp states.

Unfortunately, it is unknown how much money each of them costs, so people will have to wait until they show up for sale.
