For those people who have more flash devices than PC connectors

PNY Technologies wants to make sure that its customers never run out of means to connect their flash devices to PCs, so it developed an USB hub and a memory card reader.

Many people make do just fine with a single USB flash drive, but there are a healthy number of consumers who own several.

After a certain point, one can end up with more USB flash drives than connectors on their laptop or desktop.

If they own memory cards, something similar can occur, and their PCs may not even have card slots capable of reading all formats.

PNY has a vested interest in eliminating such situations, especially now that an entire host of new flash drives has left its labs.

Thus, it has launched a 4-port USB hub controller (just USB 2.0 support, no USB 3.0) and a multi-function card reader.

480 Mbps should be enough for whatever storage unit or peripheral one decides to plug into it.

The PNY Multi-function card reader is the more intriguing device though. It can read and write to pretty much every relevant card format out there.

For those who want a list, that means SD, SDHC, Micro SD, Micro SDHC, MS Pro, MS Pro Duo, xD, CF, M2, MMC, MMCplus and MS.

As before, the USB 2.0 connection is utilized. We aren't quite sure why PNY couldn't go that extra half a mile and use USB 3.0 instead, but that's the way things are.

PNY wants $10 / 8.13 Euro in exchange for either the 4-port USB hub or the 12-in-1 card reader.

“The cleverly designed USB Hub and Card reader fashionably complements the devices in eye catching and preppy colors available in red, and blue,” the company says in its announcement.

“The PNY Card reader and USB Hub works compatibly with all versions of Windows operating system and Mac version and comes with a limited warranty of 2 years form the date of purchase.”
