They also get omnidirectional microphones

Earphones need to be very small, and have wires that are easy to gather up and stuff in a pocket. Well, assuming that the earphones are made for use with mobile devices anyway, which the latest PNY Mic Plus+ definitely are.

The name is pretty filled with meaning actually, more than you might expect from an audio output device. Or, rather, an audio input/output device.

We're not sure if the company deliberately chose a name that makes it sound as though this is a microphone with earphone extensions.

Either way, you'll definitely enjoy good sound when speaking into the mic, owing to it being omnidirectional and very lightweight, like the rest of the earphones for that matter.

The PNY Mic Plus+ earphones

They are specifically designed for smartphones and other mobile devices. There are two models, called S205k and S205b and set apart by their colors, black and blue.

Both of them have a shape vaguely reminiscent of baseball bats, as well as extra silicon ear buds, so that you can choose either one of three sizes. It wouldn't do to force something too large inside your ear and leave it an aching mess after all.

The metal wires should withstand all sorts of bends and curls, in case you were wondering, and we can't overlook the one-touch switching remote control. It allows you to play music, switch to a phone call, and stop a track or call in its tracks whenever you wish.

That's where that omnidirectional microphone mentioned before comes in. It will let you multitask easily, like take calls during a run or while you're hard at work drawing / writing / sculpting some project or other.

A final asset implemented in the newcomers is the noise cancellation, which eliminated background noise.

It should allow you to enjoy your favorite songs or hold important calls even in a noisy crowd, train station, airport or whatever other place. Just don't start cussing people out if you bump into them or random objects while you're absorbed in those activities.

Availability and pricing of the PNY Mic Plus+ earphones

The two newcomers should become available soon, if they haven't already, with six-month warranties. They are compatible with iPhone, iPads and iPods, most Android smartphones and tablets out there, as well as MP3/MP4 players and the like. Basically, as long as your device has a recessed jack, it can handle the earbuds. Sadly, we don't know the price, since PNY has only said that they are “affordable” in its press release.
