Asetek and PNY have just announced that the two companies are joining forces in order to develop a new series of graphics cards that will come out-of-the box with an Asetek-sealed liquid cooler to deliver better thermal and acoustic performance.

PNY has already presented such a prototype in mid-April, but it now seems like the two companies are getting closer to the official launch of their first co-designed water-cooled solution.

The card that was demonstrated back in April was based on the GeForce GTX 580 core and PNY claimed that the liquid-cooler employed enabled it to decrease the operating temperatures by a little more than 30 degrees Celsius.

Back then, the company also published a YouTube video of the card running the Heaven 2.0 benchmark, where it topped at 51.9C (compared with the 82.7C of the reference card) while also running 5dBA quieter.

The only downside of the solution showcased is that the users may have a hard time fitting the radiator inside their case if they already own a closed-loop CPU liquid cooler.

“Utilizing Asetek’s proven all-in-one liquid cooling technology enables PNY to deliver best-in-class graphics performance out of the box,” said Nicholas Mauro, senior marketing manager, PC components for PNY.

Asetek technology has revolutionized how people think about CPU cooling.

“Our customers will appreciate how leveraging this technology makes extreme performance liquid cooled graphic cards surprisingly affordable and how leveraging Asetek reliability enables us to offer these graphics cards with a 5-year Warranty,” concluded the company's rep.

PNY and Asetek haven't revealed when the first water-cooled graphics cards are expected to hit the market or which Nvidia GPUs will get this treatment.

Asetek's liquid cooling solutions are used by a wide variety of OEMs and hardware makers for building high-performance gaming or workstation products.
