PNY is now offering its European customers a new XLR8 graphics cards based on the Nvidia GeForce GTX 580 design, which comes factory overclocked in order to deliver improved performance in games and other graphics applications.

The card in question is based on Nvidia's reference design used for the GTX 580, which means that noise and thermal performance should be almost identical with that of other GF110 solutions built around this cooler.

What PNY does offer, however, is the guarantee that the card will function without any issues at the 805MHz core (1610MHz shaders) and 4200 MHz memory frequencies that it comes clocked at.

While not as impressive as the operating clocks other custom designed GTX 580 cards, these are still above Nvidia's stock frequencies that are set at 772MHz for the GPU (1544MHz shaders) and 4008MHz for the memory.

The rest of the specifications of the PNY GeForce GTX 580 XLR8 OC are nothing out of the ordinary and the card comes equipped with the regular pair of dual-link DVI ports as well as with a mini-HDMI video output. A mini-HDMI to full-size HDMI adapter is also bundled together with the card.

PNY's latest creation should reach European retail stores very soon with a recommended price tag of €489. Like all other PNY graphics cards, the GTX 580 XLR8 OC is backed by a three-year warranty.

The GeForce GTX 580 is Nvidia's fastest single-GPU graphics card and is based on the GF110 core that packs 512 CUDA cores, 64 texture units, 48 ROP units and a 384-bit wide memory bus that is usually connected to 1.5GB of frame buffer.

Outside of the XLR8 OC, PNY has also developed a special water-cooled GTX 580 that includes an Asetek designed closed loop liquid cooling system. (via TCMagazine)
