The new Pope must now find the time to give due consideration to PETA's demand that the Vatican go vegan as soon as possible.

According to the organization's official website, PETA has recently sent a letter to Francis I asking him to try and clear the Vatican of all meat- and dairy-based foods.

The practice of eating eggs was also listed as no more and no less than a means to promote and endorse animal cruelty and abuse.

“Today's factory farms are a living hell for chickens, pigs, cows, and other animals. Jesus would be appalled to witness the meat, egg, and dairy industries' harmful effects on animals and human health.”

“We urge Pope Francis to make the Vatican the pinnacle of the stand against these injustices,” argued Colleen O'Brien, PETA's current director of communications.
