The Olsen twins have always enjoyed a rather curious position in today's fashion world. Whether it's their fashion sense and personal styles in general, their choices of particular clothes and accessories or merely their attitudes towards the rest of the world, Olsen fans or not, all of these have stirred up controversies and have caused us to have very different attitudes towards the two petite sisters.

One of the twins' notorious fashion quirks - we're talking here about their determination to wear real fur at red carpet events and make it a distinct part of their fashion lines - has attracted the wrath of animal rights group PETA, which has dubbed the twins "the Trollsens" and has gone to great lengths to end their romance with real fur.

In their efforts to stop the twins from glamorizing fur and making it look appealing for their fans and the rest of the world, PETA even launched a website for "the Trollsens", dubbing the young fashionistas "Trashley" and "Hairy-Kate" and compiling an assortment of rather disturbing and sinister games and other interactive activities aimed at poking as much fun at them as possible.

Now that the twins are about to turn 22, however, PETA decided it was time for more radical measures with regard to stopping the Olsens from exercising their high fashion love for fur. As a result, PETA fans are invited to send the twins a rather unusual birthday present, namely bits of their hair with a note attached saying "Please, use my hair instead of the animals".

"The Trollsen Twins are almost 22-old enough to know better than to wear the skins of animals, right? Apparently not. The twins are still sporting as much fur as ever. Since they seem to be in such dire need of extra hair on their bodies, let's give them some of ours-and send a strong message while we're at it", the website in question proclaims. No word from the twins' camp yet - however, it's quite unlikely that there will be any reaction. Stay tuned for more news.
