It's time for some seriously shocking news, people. PETA members say that, while visiting Mumbai, the organization's President, Ingrid E. Newkirk, was “literally grilled.” And they have even released a picture showing Ingrid lying on an oversized barbecue to prove it.

Fear not, the PETA president was not literally “literally grilled.” On the contrary, she put herself on the fake barbecue, hoping to convince people to quit eating meat and embrace a vegan diet instead.

“The demonstration marked World Vegan Month and made the point that animals, like people, are made of flesh and blood and have feelings, families, and friendships,” PETA explains.

“All animals have the same body parts,” the banner placed next to the barbecue the PETA president was lying on stresses.

Earlier this year, Ingrid E. Kirk also got tied to a chair and force-fed through a tube. At that time, the organization was protesting the foie gras industry.
