Restaurants could soon have “sea kittens” listed in their menus

It is a well-known fact that the language used by various peoples pretty much reflects the cultural background of those nations.

This is why our society's quest for sustainability and environmentally friendly life choices need also translate into new words being added to the languages we speak.

We are guessing that the paragraph above is the best way to summarize PETA's latest demand that five new words having to do with animal-friendly behavior are included in the latest edition of the Collins dictionary.

Of these five new words that we might soon start using on a regular basis, two sparked our interest more than the others: “sea kitten” (i.e. a new way of referring to fish), and “elefriend” (i.e. someone who shows sympathy towards circus elephants and wants to help them escape abuses).

As the organization explains on its website, “Word choices have a lot to do with shaping attitudes, so it's time that animals receive the respect that they deserve in our everyday language.”
