Fish Empathy Week, several women dressed up like mermaids are to take this message down to the streets of San Francisco.
More precisely, they are to stand in front of Fisherman's Wharf, displaying the message “Sea Life, Not Seafood.”
As campaigner Matt Bruce explains, “Fish might not be cute and cuddly, but when it comes to feeling pain and having a will to live, they're just like all other animals.”
This protest was scheduled to take place today, at precisely 12 o'clock.
