Given the fact that PETA firmly believes that we all should embrace vegetarianism not just because we wish to find ourselves in better health, but also because eating both meat and dairy need be linked to animal cruelty, it comes as no surprise that it also wants us to quit eating fish.

Thus, as part of a so-called Fish Empathy Week, several women dressed up like mermaids are to take this message down to the streets of San Francisco.

More precisely, they are to stand in front of Fisherman's Wharf, displaying the message “Sea Life, Not Seafood.”

As campaigner Matt Bruce explains, “Fish might not be cute and cuddly, but when it comes to feeling pain and having a will to live, they're just like all other animals.”

This protest was scheduled to take place today, at precisely 12 o'clock.

No pictures have yet made it on the Internet, yet the image chosen as head for this blog shows how one such previous demonstration went.

I find it hilarous that all of the sudden, as of yesterday...Mermaids and the previous films that were supposed to show us they do exist- have been removed from the internet...Really.. . Does Area 51 ring a bell?...... If they do exist the government will make sure we dont ever really know... Just ask Jesse Ventura
