The country has recently banned shark finning, seems eager to protect animal rights

As reported, India has agreed to outlaw shark finning. The measure is intended to safeguard the world's remaining shark population and keep several endangered species from going extinct.

By the looks of it, PETA hopes that India's agreeing to ban shark finning has opened up some sort of Pandora's box in reverse.

Long story short, the animal rights activists are now asking that the country also bans the practice of testing various household products on guinea pigs.

The animal test PETA wishes to see outlaw helps determine the skin sensitization potential of chemicals used to manufacture household-products, Global Animal reports.

Apparently, it could easily be replaced with a method dubbed the Human Repeat Insult Patch Test.

PETA claims that, because humans and animals are different, tests carried out on the latter are not just cruel, but also unreliable. Therefore, it makes sense for researchers to want to use non-animal testing methods.
