Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 (PES 2011) simulator will receive a patch today, which will implement a wide array of fixes and tweaks into the football (soccer) simulator, as well as improve the artificial intelligence of the defenders in the game.

Besides addressing various glitches and problems encountered by players while experiencing the game, Konami will also add the improvements to the difficulty of doing rainbow flicks, and adjust the throw-ins of the ball, for a much tighter response.

"Cursor switching has been generally been improved including situations when the ball is crossed, while the way transfer fees are calculated in Master League has been reworked," says Konami.

"Names above CPU players can also now be switched off as they mimic player settings. Shooting has also be tweaked to produce more realistic reactions and results depending on real-time situations."

PES 2011 was launched in September by Konami, and went head to head with EA's popular FIFA 11 title, which, as we revealed, sold a huge amount of copies, especially in Europe.

Konami didn't offer any statistics about its own sales, but given the pretty large fan base for the Pro Evolution Soccer series, it's safe to say that the franchise will be coming back next year, right before the football season begins.

PES 2011 brought an array of improvements over last year's game, including an enhanced total control feature, allowing you to dictate all of the actions of the characters on screen, new shot and stamina gauges, improved goalkeepers and better physics.

Besides the improvements in single-player, lots of people also praised PES 2011 for its top notch multiplayer modes, including Master League, which pits custom teams that are managed by players against one another, as well as the regular online mode, with different features.

PES 2011 was released for the PC, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii.
