PCLinuxOS cut updates for 2010 versions. Only allowed a 6 month period for users to get new program to allow future updates but I was in hospital for 9 months during this period. I contacted them about getting the update that would allow me to update my PC as they claim PCLinuxOS is a rolling update but all I got from them was arrogance and no help. Appalling!

U can update from your 2010 version, all u need is to update the repository list. It's all in the forums, easy to find with the search option. People are friendly there.. Never had a problem there, always solutions...

PCLinuxOS 2012 is really just PCLinuxOS 2010 fully updated. At any timeI want/need to update, I just go to Synaptic, reload my repository, click 'Mark All Updates', click 'Apply', and click 'Apply'. All changes are downloaded and applied.

Admittedly, with that long a break between updates, you will probably save on bandwidth by just downloading the latest iso and installing. ;-)

Unfortunately, that sounds pretty accurate. I had PCLOS installed on my laptop for almost a year, and while I never had any issues with anyone personally, I was astonished at reading some of the comments that would appear in their forums! It seems lthis distro is slowly becoming a something like a high-school clique, new members need not apply! Even though PCLOS worked very well with my laptop, I found myself moving to the Chakra distro. The forums for this distro are the complete opposite of what I found with PCLOS, the developers go out of their way to assists everyone, even noobs!

Overall PCLOS really is a wonderful distro... it's just a shame that the people who should be promoting it are actually turning people off from trying it!

What a load of total drivel about pclos forums being unfriendly!!
I've been in there asking for assistance and received updates and fixes within minutes from very helpful members.
I admit to seeing red when I read some of the moronic complaints some new users post in the forums, I can only assume the above 2 who feel it was an unfriendly place can only have reaped what they sowed. Posting with arrogance and a pompous attitude will get you a suitable response, but that is the same in any forum.
