Publisher THQ has announced that it plans to launch the PC version of its Darsiders videogame on September 24, complete with a special Hell Book edition to make up for all the time that has passed since the console versions of the title were launched.

The Hell Book edition of the video game will include a soundtrack CD, showing off the tunes that War likes to hear while battling his enemies, a comic book telling a story parallel to that of the Darksiders game and art cards, all created by Joe Madueira, the same artist that gave the title its distinctive look.

The developers are also promising the port will take advantage of the unique features of the PC platform and will allow to experience Darksiders as they have never done before.

Darksiders tells the story of War, one of the Four Horsemen that are meant to come to Earth in the time of the Apocalypse. Mysterious forces trick War into descending to our world earlier than he should have and now he must hunt down those responsible for the treachery.

The player will control War and have to fight denizens of both Heaven and Hell while also solving some puzzles along the way. The game has been a surprise hit on the Xbox 360 and on the PlayStation 3, despite being launched on January 5, when most gamers were still recovering after New Year's Eve and playing the blockbusters of last year.

Vigil, the studio that designed Darksiders, is now working with THQ on the creation of a MMO based around the Warhammer 40,000 intellectual property, called Dark Millenium Online. There are rumors of a Darksiders sequel being under development, with a multiplayer component in the works. The game might come during fiscal 2012.
