Rich features at a high price

Don?t think that such a laptop could ever be cheap. The reasons behind this statement are numerous but among the most important you can count the fact that mobile SLI costs a lot to build. It takes a specially designed motherboard that supports 2 Geforce Go cards in SLI mode and that only adds up to the already astronomical price. Moreover, the modified cooling that prevents such a mobile gaming bomb from burning up also costs. Of course, small laptop integrators don?t develop their own motherboard layouts because the final product would cost too much compared to a Dell or a HP. But you don?t get to see a SLI capable Dell, do you?

Getting a little technical, you?ll find out that the new MicroWorks Vega X laptop features an AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-60 CPU @ 2.0GHz, 1MB L2 cache 35W TDP, two Nvidia GeForce Go 7950 GTX graphics chips running in SLI mode, 4GB PC2-5300 (667MHz) memory, a total of 320GB of storage space (2*160GB HDDs that can run in Raid 0 or 1), Blu-ray disc burner, 20.1? WSXGA+ (1680x1050) screen, 7.1 audio, TV-tuner and even EV-DO connectivity. Regarding the software part it?s worth mentioning that the notebook comes with Windows XP Professional operating system and includes the Windows Vista upgrade coupon. The company does not say anything related to the battery time or capacity of the laptop.

In case you?re planning to buy it, you should remember the following: the fully equipped laptop coming with additional battery, bag and increased warranty (3 years) will set you back $8083. Moreover, you have to take into account that notebooks coming from Dell come with more powerful Core 2 CPUs and integrate LCDs capable of higher resolution. However, they do not offer SLI capabilities. That being said, if you have the money, the laptop is an interesting and rare piece of hardware that can satisfy even hardcore gamers.
