We may see a whole flood of Google Glass knock-offs soon

Google Glass was the first wearable display concept that truly gained traction, and remains the most often talked about, despite there already being some augmented reality glasses on sale.

Seeing the success that even a single such invention can have, even in advance of its actual release, PC makers want a piece of the action.

According to a new report, most PC brand vendors and OEMs have established R&D teams to this effect.

That means that, soon enough, Apple, Epson, Sony and HTC will have lots of competition.

Keep in mind, though, that PC makers are interested in all forms of wearable technology, not just glasses. That means watches, belts, clothing accessories and everything else one could think of.

ASUS might be the only one that will take things slow here, because its R&D budget is a bit tight.
