PC-BSD, an easy-to-install-and-use BSD desktop operating system, based on FreeBSD, is now at version 9-20120418.

FreeBSD 9-STABLE-20120418, as the developers call it, is only available for 64-bit systems. Also, if users need the new GEM/KMS support provided in the previous snapshot, they must not install this new version on the main system, as that support has been removed.

Highlights of PC-BSD 9-20120418:

· A new system installer was implemented; · A new “PC-BSD Server” installation option is now available; · Support for ZFS mirror / raidz(1,2,3) during installation was introduced; · Support for SWAP on ZFS, allowing entire disk ZFS installation was added; · New Bluetooth paring tray / GUI utilities was added; · New AppCafe improvements and preferences was added; · Numerous bug-fixes to PC-BSD related utilities were implemented.
