PC-BSD, a BSD distribution with the goal to be an easy-to-install-and-use desktop operating system based on FreeBSD, is now at version 10 Beta 4.

According to the developers, this latest image is a very early cut of the new stable/10 branch of FreeBSD and is probably only suitable for advanced users or developers.

Highlights of PC-BSD 10 Beta 4:

• FreeBSD 10-STABLE / 10.0-BETA3 from 11/20/2013 has been included; • GNOME 3, Mate, and Cinnamon desktops have been implemented, GNOME 2 has been ditched; • The installer has received options for the text-mode and now includes ZFS features; • PBIs support has been implemented; • Linux compatibility layer to CentOS 6 has been updated.
