The laptop measures 15.6 inches and is meant for business use

The latest addition to the P-series line of mobile personal computers from ASUS is a portable workstation powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo T5870 CPU. The central processor is clocked at 2.0GHz and the configuration makes use of a GMA 4500M integrated graphics controller and Random Access Memory (RAM). The laptop, dubbed P50IJ-SO036X, measures 370×256x31~35 mm, is well equipped for business use, with the full array of performance and I/O capabilities.

The Core 2 Duo T5870 central processing unit has an FSB of 800MHz and an L2 cache memory of 2MB, while storage capabilities are provided by a 250GB SATA hard drive unit, which spins at 5400 RPM. The laptop itself has a matte screen and casing, with the 15.6-inch HD 16:9 anti-glare TFT screen being capable of a maximum resolution of 1355x768 pixels. The screen has a power-efficient LED backlight.

The laptop is equipped with all standard connectivity options, namely an LAN 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ-45 network adapter and integrated 802.11b/g/n WLAN. Its I/O capabilities are comprised of a 3-in-1 Card Reader interface, a VGA output, four USB 2.0 connectors and a jack for headphones and one for a microphone. The product also comes with a 0.3-megapixel webcam, a number pad and Altec Lansing Speakers.

Currently, the ASUS P50IJ-SO036X business laptop is only available in the areas of Germany and Austria and there is no information on whether it will become available in other countries. The laptop also has an 8x DVD burner and runs the Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64bit operating system. For an easy and comfortable use, the workstation has comprehensive software included in the actual purchase and makes use of the ASUS Ice Cool technology, which ensures the heat dissipation in the area of the palm rest.

The black Intel Core 2 Duo T5870-powered P50IJ-SO036X makes use of the Intel GL40 chipset and has an estimated price tag of 589 Euro.
