Vuze, a BitTorrent client previously known as Azureus, which is built on Java, has been upgraded to version 5.3.0.1 Beta 46 and is now ready for testing.

Vuze is a relatively lightweight BitTorrent client that can be used to download torrents and even acts as a search engine. The developers have been slowly upgrading the application and it feels like this cycle has been going on forever.

According to the developers, a pause option has been implemented for selected torrents via the right-click advanced menu, message encryption is no longer used over non-public networks, the header menus have been extended to other components, a menu item has been added to the column setup to make it more obvious there are extra columns available, and a copy-to-clipboard function has been added for plugin log views.

Also, the sidebar icons for all-peers and tag-overview are now much better, the library view cat/tag button area has been cleaned, and an option to turn off the Category buttons in Library has been added.

Check out the announcement for a complete list of updates and new features. You can also check out our Vuze review, although it's for a slightly older version.

Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
