Vuze 5.3.0.1 Beta 15, a BitTorrent client previously known as Azureus, which is built on Java, is now available for download and users can start testing it at once.

Vuze is a relatively lightweight BitTorrent client that can be used to download torrents and even acts as a search engine. There are numerous P2P alternatives to Vuze, but this is one of the best clients available on Linux, despite the fact that it is based on Java.

According to the changelog, initial tags have been added to the new-torrent wizard (this should make it easier to assign proper tags before downloading something), tag support has been added to the Friends plugin, the initial tab field order is now being switched on new-torrent wizard, and the copy-on-complete logic has been fixed.

Also, a clipboard torrent URI monitor has been added and it can be enabled by the user by right-clicking on the “Open Torrents” button in the toolbar.

Check out the announcement for a complete list of updates and new features. You can also check the review we have for Vuze, although it's for a slightly older version.
