CES 2014 might be the launching platform for a lot of cool and useful products, but some of them are pretty bizarre, to say the least.

An example would be the Ozobot tablet robot (via CNET), which aims to be a sort of gaming companion for when you play on your slate.

The robot can move across your tablet screen, following tracks and pattern in different digital games, with the help of five sensors, placed underneath. On top of that, the robot can recognize different colors and is able to decode flashes and various combinations of these parameters will tell it how to behave.

At the moment, the Ozobot can be used in concert with four app games and, in one of them, you have to create a path to the finish line before your opponent does.

The Ozobot can execute swivels, pivotal movements and oscillation along the surface of the tablet, but you can use it on a physical board game as well.

In the digital environment, the robot is compatible with iOS and Android tablets, and while the Ozobot could be spotted at CES, the product is far from hitting retail shelves. A Kickstarter campaign will begin next week with the goal of gathering up to $100,000 / €7,331 for the project.
