No ETA has been given for the release of the update yet

Less than two weeks ago, OnePlus company announced that it would offer its own Lollipop-based ROM (Oxygen OS) which would be available for download on or before March 27.

Unfortunately, it's already March 27 and there's no countdown on the company's website for the release of the promised update.

In fact, there won't be any Oxygen OS updates launched today, as OnePlus confirmed on Reddit a few hours ago.

There's no telling why they haven't been able to meet the deadline with the upgrade, but it may have something to do with the issues the company talked about ten days ago.

OnePlus said that if it were unable to provide OnePlus One owners with the promise Oxygen OS update on time, they would give away 5 smartphones.

The company has just confirmed that the five 64GB OnePlus One handsets will be offered to its fans in the next couple of hours. It's unclear, however, how these smartphones will be given away, but stay tuned for more on this one.

CyanogenMod OS 12 is expected to arrive on March 30

In the same piece of news, OnePlus also confirmed that CyanogenMod 12 OS will arrive for OnePlus One smartphones on March 30.

There are still three days until then, but there's no telling whether or not the update will be provided on time for OnePlus One owners.

This isn't the first time CyanogenMod 12 OS based on Android 5.0 Lollipop for OnePlus One is delayed. According to OnePlus, they run into some “unexpected roadblocks” that led to these delays:

“First, there was an unforeseen OS signing issue, which has recently been resolved. Our camera module had stability issues on Lollipop, and we had to rebuild it for compatibility. Several other crucial drivers, including our Wi-Fi drivers, also needed to be updated to work flawlessly with the upgrade.”

Here is hoping Oxygen OS and CyanogenMod OS 12 get released sooner rather than later. We'll be keeping an eye out for any additional info on the matter, so stay tuned.
