Maybe you would have never thought of such an odd combination between a bird and a feline, but Chinese people did, and these imagines are actually pretty successful in the Asian country, where they seem to have been circulating for at least one year now.
It sounds really strange, but after looking at pictures of so-called Meowls, I came to realize that the unlikely combination between a cat and an owl looks surprisingly natural.
The cat’s head is juxtaposed on an owl’s body, and the color and pattern on their fur and feathers seem to effortlessly complement one another. So, the idea of such an eccentric creature doesn't seem too far-fetched.
The source of this new meme is unknown, but according to Rocket News, it could stem from the Chinese word for owls, which means “cat-headed eagle” if translated literally.
