In recent weeks, several people in Oregon, US, have been attacked by an owl lurking in Bush's Pasture Park, a public park and botanical garden in the city of Salem.

The good news is that, although owls are armed with terribly strong claws and beaks, nobody was seriously injured. However, authorities recommend that people visiting Bush Park be extra vigilant.

How the attacks played out

In all fairness, it is unclear whether all the four attacks that have until now occurred in this public park in the city of Salem were orchestrated by the same owl, or if maybe a group of seriously angry birds might be to blame for the bizarre occurrences.

However, wildlife experts say that, judging by its modus operandi, the attacks were most likely carried out by just one owl. Thus, it is understood that the four victims were all ambushed by a bird that sneaked up on them from behind and then simply started pecking at them.

Even weirder, the last victim, a man who was attacked this past Monday around 5:45 a.m. while jogging in Bush's Pasture Park says that the owl showed up out of nowhere, scratched him and then flew off with his favorite running hat.

The man, identified as Brad Hilliard, goes on to explain that, although he immediately turned around to catch a glimpse of his assailant, he proved way too slow to be a match for the vicious bird. Thus, he says that, by the time he spun around, his attacked was long gone.

“As I was running along, I felt out of nowhere, this scratch on the back of my head and my hat was pulled right off my head. I spun around because I wanted to know what just hit me on the head - what was coming for me. Nothing was there. It was completely gone,” he said, as cited by KETV.

So, what's the deal with this owl?

Wildlife researchers suspect that the feisty owl attacked these four people in Salem, Oregon, not because it wanted to show off its kung fu skills or anything of the sorts, but because it was protecting its nest. They go on to argue that, until the nesting period is over, other attacks might follow.

As mentioned, authorities ask that guys and gals visiting Salem's Bush's Pasture Park do their best not to upset the owls starting a new family in the area, maybe even consider wearing a hard hat to avoid injuries in case of an unexpected attack.
