The Ovi Browser Beta application has just received a series of enhancements on the server side, all meant to greatly improve the rendering and performance of this software solution that was launched not too long ago for Series 40 devices.
According to the application's development team, enhancements were made based on the feedback received from the large community of testers around the world.
Moreover, they note that the new improvements were made only on the backend, and that no client upgrade is needed for the time, being.
Next time a user launches the Ovi Browser, he/she should notice improvements like: - Improved rendering quality - Performance improvements - Added support for 4 new devices - 7310, x2, 5300, 6280, 3710 - Created 2 regional start pages for India and Indonesia – Users coming from either India or Indonesia will be able to see locally relevant links in the start page - Improved Vietnamese character issues The Ovi Browser was released on Series 40 handsets, and is available only on some of them at the moment.
The solution is meant to offer users the possibility to enjoy data usage reduction through a cloud-based Internet compression technology, while also offering them an innovative user interface so that they can access favorite content much easier than before.
“We’re in the process of building up our global infrastructure to provide the best possible speed, performance, and reliability for millions of users. The team is working hard on the next beta version that includes new features and incorporates updates based on your feedback,” the development team notes.
Some of the main features of the new application include Over the air data usage reduced up to 90%, Full Page View, Zoomed-in View, Column View, Browsing and Search history, Page segmentation in Column View to simplify navigation, or Integrated search on start page.
