The development team at Blizzard working on Overwatch is ready to announce that it is planning to launch a beta version of Overwatch in the autumn of this year and that until then it intends to reveal more details about the characters that are part of the title.

During the PAX East event, the company has announced that players will be able to take on the roles of both McCree, an outlaw with an own sense of justice, and Zarya, an athlete ready to protect those she loves.

Blizzard is offering a look at both characters in action, which can be seen at the bottom of this article, with info about their powers in the game.

McCree is part of Overwatch after he was caught smuggling weapons and he was recruited because he is an expert marksman.

The bio of the character claims that he sought to compensate for his crimes and that he went underground when Overwatch was torn from within.

Blizzard adds, "He resurfaced several years later as a gunslinger for hire. But while McCree's talents are sought after by parties great and small, he fights only for causes he believes are just."

Zarya, full name Aleksandra Zaryanova, is a strong athlete that was born in Siberia and endured the Omnic Crisis before training extensively in bodybuilding and rushing back to defend her home when needed.

The studio explains, "Now she serves—a symbol to some, a stalwart fellow soldier to others. But for Aleksandra, it is a chance to use her great strength to protect the ones she loves."

Overwatch aims to mix MOBA and shooter elements

The new title from Blizzard will use a first-person perspective and will allow players to choose from an array of heroes as two strong six-member teams struggle on a variety of maps.

The company has said that it wants gamers to work together in order to achieve objectives.

So far, it is unclear how many maps will be included in the initial release of Overwatch and there are no details about the business model that will be used.

Blizzard will probably initially offer the beta for the game to a limited number of players and will allow them to invite friends in order to slowly enlarge the community and allow for more feedback to be gathered.
