Overwatch is Blizzard Entertainment's next potentially big game and is shaping up to be quite an impressive title.

After the resounding success of Hearthstone, the tiny (compared to Blizzard's other projects) collectible card game that managed to garner the attention of millions and is making a lot of money for the company, several other projects that stray from the norm have been started.

Heroes of the Storm is a multiplayer online battle arena that brings together the most beloved characters from the Diablo, Starcraft and Warcraft franchises, with a fresh formula and all the polish you can expect from a Blizzard game, even in its current beta stage.

Overwatch is a brand new IP, a team-based multiplayer shooter that aims to provide a more challenging experience to fans of the genre, offering a break from the realism of Battlefield or Call of Duty, in favor of more exciting mechanics.

The design team is working really hard to introduce new gameplay paradigms to the game, and strives to make characters that feel unique and push the genre's limits.

Overwatch looks like a game to watch out for

Two new characters have just been unveiled, McCree, a retrofuturistic gunslinger with a robot arm that seems to have watched one too many spaghetti westerns, and Zarya, a female bodybuilder with a massive plasma cannon.

Blizzard hasn't revealed too much gameplay footage for the time being, being content to get our attention and then let us wait.

Fortunately, during PAX East 2015, someone captured footage of some full matches, from Blizzard's booth, so we can now enjoy more sweet action.

You can see the general flow of the game and see some of the heroes in action in the video below, showing off their abilities and how their unique design influences the way your approach PvP matches.

Overwatch is going to enter closed beta later this year, around fall. It already looks great, especially for a project that's still in alpha, and it's bound to give other complex multiplayer shooters a run for their money.
