This summer, chunky, oversized, colored rings are all the rage - don't be afraid to give them a try

Designers and die-hard fashionistas have proclaimed the demise of the oversize bags - however, the "big, colorful and eye-catching accessory" trend is far from going the same way. The new oversize "it" accessory that screams wealth, taste and a cutting-edge sense of fashion is the eye-catching cocktail ring. We've seen them everywhere from Louis Vuitton and Chanel to the much more affordable stores all over the States and the U.K., with prices ranging from thousands of dollars for a designer piece to anything from $20 to $60 for equally showy rings made of sterling silver and sporting glass or cubic zirconium stones.

So, you will ask, what is the reasoning behind these showy, chunky rings for which celebrities have developed somewhat of an obsession in recent months? They are, stylists say, a manifestation of the overall trend that favors oversize, dramatic costume jewelry. Also, many of these cocktail rings feature colored gemstones and elaborate floral motifs, in keeping with this summer's color craze and passion for anything floral, whether it's the print on our new dress, the embroidery on our bags or the shape of our new finger candy.

So, ladies, we're all free to buy and wear rings that would have looked ridiculously large a few seasons ago. As long as they match the rest of our outfits, we can allow our rings to be as big and as strikingly colored as we please. Have a look at how some of today's most famous ladies chose to wear their oversize cocktail rings, and decide which style, shape and color would work for you. Don't forget the matching nail polish, and you're good to go.
