So far, we all kinda got used to seeing celebs in magazines not looking their normal selves. It's not actually rocket science - it's Photoshop, a lady's best friend in times of need (after the plastic surgeon, of course). However, if we were to draw a line, where would that be? To the retouched photos of, I don't know, Madonna or Jennifer Lopez or to those of Gwyneth Paltrow or Brooke Hogan? The difference between these two sets is that, for the first one, whoever worked on their pics airbrushed them only a bit to make them look better than in real life while, as far as the latter is concerned, we can honestly say that we don't even know who is that looking back at us from the cover.
Case in point: actress Gwyneth Paltrow on the cover of 'W' Magazine. You might know that 'W' is the same mag that also brought us last month the Beckham spouses in all their hot and sexy glory, in a photo spread so steamy that it can hardly be matched by any other magazine. But, you know what they say, you can't always have sunshine, so I imagine that's why they went with this photo of Gwyneth who, from where I stand, has that British (although she's American and I know it) cold charm. That is to say, she's neither exceptionally beautiful nor completely ugly, but still strangely attractive. IMO.
But not according to the guys who did this! If you ask them, Gwyneth is an over-baked version of a male Paris. And into porn! This cover photo is so disarmingly artificial that I'm even surprised Gwyneth is not all over their asses, dragging them to court for tempering with her look to such an extent. I mean, when the Photoshop artists turned
Brooke Hogan into THIS, a hot and tanned temptress (although she is far from it, to put it mildly), it was practically a win-win situation. But, this time, it's clear who stands to lose if 'W' really decides to go with this cover for their upcoming issue.
Anyway, this was not what I was planning to talk to you about, but I got a little carried away. Gwyneth is making her comeback into showbiz opposite Robert Downey Jr. in 'Iron Man' and that's what the magazine cover and interview is all about. If the cover doesn't turn you off completely, pick up the issue and find out more about her future projects, family plans, babies and what it means to be a famous actress and mother of two at the same time.
