Android’s momentum continues, the latest data coming from Google shows. Not only has the OS become the most popular among end users around the world, but it has already been loaded on half a billion devices also.

And with over one million devices being activated each and every day, it seems that the platform does not plan on slowing down soon.

“Today is a big day for Android... 500 million devices activated globally, and over 1.3 million added every single day,” Hugo Barra, director of product management, Android, notes in a post on Google+.

Today, some of the most appealing devices in the world are running under Android, including quad-core smartphones and tablet PCs, along with a series of phablets that deliver both phone and slate capabilities in a single design, such as Samsung Galaxy Note or LG Optimus Vu.
