Voice calls and text messages totalled at an all-time high of over 42 million for Christmas Day and New Year's Eve as Vodafone customers on Ireland's most
popular network sent greetings to their loved ones.

There were as many calls as texts on both days, once-again confirming that people love to talk. The holiday season also saw an increase in music downloads on the Vodafone network. The Christmas classic "Fairytale of New York" by The Pogues continued to be the Irish favourite and most downloaded Full Track during the period. Shakira's dance-floor mover, "Hips Don't Lie" was the most popular track of 2006. With a selection of over 357,000 tracks Vodafone, customers availed of the cheapest rates in the market for Full Tracks.

Vodafone customers also whiled away the hours playing games and watching Mobile TV during the Christmas break. 'Deal or No Deal' and 'World Series of Poker' were the most popular games during the period. The ever-popular "Tetris" was the most downloaded Java Game for 2006.

Due to the popularity of this season's most high-profile sporting events, Sky Sports News with coverage of the Barclays Premiership matches and "At the Races" with coverage of the Leopardstown Christmas Festival were the two most watched Mobile TV channels.
