Some of the sites belong to the Chinese government

Charaf Anons, a hacker of Anonymous Algeria, has defaced over 1,000 websites to show support for Palestine and to protest against Israel.

A list of 1,600 websites has been published on Pastebin, 906 of which are Chinese websites, HackRead reports.

It’s worth noting that while most of the Chinese websites appear to be commercial, some of them belong to educational institutions and even government organizations.

E Hacking News highlights that some of the entries are duplicates, so the total number of defaced sites is just over 1,000. The hacker told EHN that it took him less than a day to add his defacement page to the large number of websites.

At the time of writing, most of the sites still hosted the defacement pages. In such attacks, when the defacement page doesn’t replace the website’s index webpage, it might take a while before the administrator notices the breach.
